💧Hydration! Hydration! Hydration! 💧

I have created this article all about hydration, because it is REALLY important to your health and wellbeing! I have included links to some of my podcast episodes on the topic as they cover more of the deep narratives behind our challenges with hydration. And I like to talk about these things!
I cannot emphasize enough the importance of good hydration! Every part of your body thrives with it. I believe that the value and benefits of hydration are hugely overlooked and it is something I focus on for all of my clients. No matter what your health challenges are right now, or even if you are feeling fit and well. I know that improving your hydration will make you feel (even) better!
Sadly many of us humans are dehydrated!
(Even when we are drinking plenty of fluids.)
There are two parts to this truth bomb drop. The first been that many of us are dehydrated and the second been that this can be despite the fact we are drinking plenty of fluids.
Signs of Dehydration:
Below are some of the ways your body can communicate to you that it is dehydrated. You will see that many of them can be symptoms for lots of other issues as well.
Feeling thirsty
Dry mouth and lips
Urinating less (OR MORE)
Changes in the colour of urine...you can google urine colour charts
Dizziness
Fatigue
Headaches
Both our conscious and subconscious minds can play a part in our dehydration as well as society and environmental factors. When we are aware that we are dehydrated, it isn't always as easy as simply drinking more water etc.

In the rest of this article I aim to give you some practical tips and advice on how to improve your hydration. Episode 11 of Vagina Truth Bomb the Podcast entitled: Amy's Top Hydration Tips covers most of what I will be sharing here. In this article I have provided the links to all of the products I recommend in the podcast. I have highlighted them in pink to make it easier for you to find them. I will also provide this in list format in the Vagina Truth Bomb Community for easy reference.
💧Amy’s Top Tips for Good Hydration 💧
💧 Invest in water filters:
Drinking good quality clean water is key! Sometimes we can be trying to hydrate ourselves with tap water and it can contain ‘toxins’ such as chlorine, lead and limescale for example. I appreciate that this varies depending on where you are geographically, however I recommend that you invest in water filters.
You also want to avoid consuming water from plastic bottles, such as the bottled spring water available at supermarkets etc. Chemicals (often the endocrine disturbing kind) from the plastic bottles can contaminate the water and of course we need to be mindful of single use plastic consumption and avoid it wherever possible.
If you have the means to fit a full water filtration system in your home then AMAZING! If not then here are my personal recommendations:
The Zero Water filters are the best filters I have come across. However, they can very expensive (financially and environmentally) to maintain, bulky and also contribute to landfill, which is obviously not great for the environment.
You may decide to use them temporarily if you are focusing strongly on detoxification/ waste out.
I personally use a Phox Water Filter. I like that the jug is glass and the filters are reusable! This link will provide you with discount off all Phox products.
If your barrier to drinking water is you do not like the taste, seriously try filtering it and taste the difference! Plus if you live in a hard water area like me, your kettle and iron will thank you for it!
💧Create variety with your water:
Many people struggle to drink water as they claim they do not like it or it bores them so here are some ideas you can try to make your water more exciting!
Get Infusing! You can use (frozen) lemon, lime, berries, cucumber or even treat yourself to infusion blends.
You can also add a drop of DōTERRA Essential Oil to your water. This is great for when you are on the move. My personal favorites are lemon, lime, grapefruit, peppermint and wild orange. The beauty of using essential oils if they will have additional benefits aside from making your water taste great!
Experiment with the temperature of your water. You may find you enjoy chilled water better than room temperature. Or you may enjoy hot/boiled water more. I also encourage you to try the infusion blends at different temperatures.
💧 Structure your water:
What do I mean by structured water?
There are quite a lot of different information relating to structured water. What I mean by it is water that has added stucture...so added goodness and benefits. Before our water was processed by the water companies, it would come direct from the streams and rivers etc. Meaning that it would have all the added minerals, crystals and other 'nutrient's' from the earth/soil. Before we chucked fertilisers and other harsh chemicals all over everything deleting soil health. Simply put we are not designed to drink the water that comes out of our taps. This is why you may find yourself drinking a lot of water and still being dehydrated.
As with nutrients and food: just because you are eating something it does not mean your body is getting nutrition from it. The body has to be able to absorb it! People can struggle to absorb water, because their gut lining is destroyed (leaky gut), and or their lymphatic system is restricted in some way. As a result we can’t get nutrients into the cells, nor can we can’t release the waste from our body.
Many women are very dehydrated, and the clear signs are that they drink a lot and then need to pee a lot. This can deepen the issue as the need to pee a lot becomes ‘inconvenient’ so they may start to reduce their water intake, creating more dehydration!
Drinking structured water may help with this. Below, I am talk you through my way to do it, so you can step into creating your own structured water.
How to Create Your Own Structured Water:
Fill a glass with (filtered/clean) water
Add a slice of (ideally organic) lemon and small amount of Celtic Sea salt {not table salt}. This will mimic sea water, and it will help your absorption.
Personally I use DōTERRA Lemon Essential Oil* in my water for ease especially when out and about or organic lemons.
I also tend to pop the Celtic sea salt directly onto my tongue and quickly swallow down with a drink of water. Alternatively you can add it to the glass of water.
⚠*I only recommend ingestion of DōTERRA essential oils as they are pure essential oils. Please ask me if you would like support sourcing them.
Fulvic Humic:
Adding Fulvic Humic to your water will structure it, helping you boast your hydration and support your body with detoxification. I have linked the Fulvic Humic brand I am currently using and recommend. Feel free to research your own as it comes in different forms. Here is my guide to introducing fulvic humic to your water.
Fill a glass with (filtered/clean) water
Add Humic Fulvic Acid- it will give you all the nutrients you need mineral wise, in order for your cells to recover and regenerate
The moment you add fulvic humic into the water, it becomes structured✨ Magic!
Introduce yourself slowly to it, adding a few drops a day until you build up to the recommended amount. I do not recommend starting on the recommended amount if you are new to structuring your water.
If you begin to detox strongly with humic & fulvic acid, decrease the amount and continue to take smaller amounts until you feel better.
Start with this, and maintain it for a couple of days.
It is not unusual to go through detoxification process, so remember to take things slowly and honour any detoxification that may occur.
You can take this structured water every single day.
Possible Results from Structuring Your Water with Fulvic Humic:
Your body will be receiving essential nutrients for regeneration, healing and recovery! Which is pretty exciting!

💧Create a habit:
Like most things, increasing your water/fluid consumption is down to creating the habit to do so. This is going to be different for each of us. Below I will share a few ideas for you to consider:
Get a container that a) you enjoy drinking out of and b) makes drinking easier for you! This could be a beautiful mug or a handy insulated water bottle with a straw.
Pre slice/prepare any fruit you are using to infuse your water to make it quicker and easier.
Set reminders to drink throughout your day. This can be via Post It notes, alarms on your phone, screensavers etc.
Take a water bottle with you in the car or on your dog walk etc.
Encourage your family and friends to improve their hydration too and make each other accountable.
💧Other suggested drinks:
There is hydration beyond ‘just water’. Here are some of my personal favourites:
Dash Water offer fruit infused water
Replace Energy Drinks with Perfect Ted (same link as Matcha above) & Tenzing Natural Energy Drink
Rocks Squash is a good alternative to dilute squash
Remedy Kombucha is a fabulous gut friendly refreshing drink
Clipper tea is my favourite brand for all my caffeine (and plastic) free tea needs
